The melodious morning song of birds & gorgeous golden sunrises over the Mograni Mountains will enhance your well-being as you sit on the elevated front deck & delight your taste buds with the perfect cup of coffee from our easy to use, new Breville Oracle Touch coffee machine. If you sit quietly a stunning blue, tiny male Superb Fairy Wren may leave the cover of the pretty fluttering Mutabilis roses peeking over the top of the deck & grace you with a personal serenade. No sudden movements or he will flit off in a flurry!
If you prefer a herbal tea, there is lemon myrtle, lemon verbena, mint, spearmint or rosemary available for picking in the back garden to brew fresh tea. Here the family of tame magpies sometimes enjoy an early morning shower under the water sprinkler, always accompanied with their pretty songs. English breakfast tea, rooibos etc are available too in the kitchen which has fresh Berkshire white walls & cabinets, is clean, large & well equipped, making it easy to whip up delicious food to share around a generous table for 12. Plenty of natural light floods through custom designed French doors & windows on both east & west aspects of this open plan area where the white cathedral ceilings add to the spacious airy feeling here in the heart of the home.
The external doors are all extra tall & glass paned, so that more sky, green hills or garden can be viewed from within. The colours for sofas, blankets, throws & cushions reflects the soft greens & blues on show through the French doors, with some splashes of colour to match the gorgeous roses growing in the garden. Like the pinks of the David Austin Rose "Heritage", the tea rose Duchesse De Brabant (1857) or the antique (1881) Bourbon rose Mme Isaac Pereire, exquisitely perfumed & a very deep pink! The garden is new but with the fertile soil, abundant sun & rain, everything is rocketing away at an incredible rate & there is always something that puts on a show or offers a pleasant perfume in every season.
Blue Wren Hill is set in quintessentially Australian big sky country where you will be treated to ever-changing panoramic skies! Orange morning glow, soothing blues, or blue & an infinite variety of awe-inspiring cloud formations ... white and wispy, heavy and billowing, silver lined, or pretty in pink at dusk. Maybe even the rippling "mackerel skies" that signal an impending change in the weather. You may even be lucky enough to witness the exciting spectacle of a storm rolling in from the north!
In contrast the ever present mountains & hills stretch out into the distance more than 180 degrees... & the iconic Buccan Buccan (Bucketts Mountain) looms large through the back windows & French doors.
Let the luminous moon & sparkling stars in the night skies enchant you while swaying gently in our double hammock on the front deck where warm solar lighting provides a cosy ambiance to relax with loved ones. The country air here is clean & fresh so on a clear evening thousands of glimmering stars are visible in the vast expanse of inky skies all around you. This is the perfect way to spend the evening after being welcomed by the our local vineyard owners with their hallmark country hospitality, verdelhos, shiraz, rose & many more delicious wines.
Be mesmerized by the flickering flames of our large outdoor fire pit, as you snuggle up to enjoy melting marshmallows & delicious hot chocolate in the cooler months. This Milkcan fire- pit has all the accessories ... a stainless steel grill, skewers & forks so you could BBQ whatever takes your fancy here instead of the gas BBQ on the front deck.
In summer cool off in one of many nearby swimming spots loved by locals, along the Gloucester, Barrington, Bowman or Avon rivers, or perfect your stroke in the heated olympic size pool, set in the shadow of the Bucketts Mountain, just minutes away in the Gloucester Swimming Pool Complex.
Blue Wren Hill is the perfect base to explore the untouched wilderness of the Barrington Tops National Park, just a short drive away. Meander through pristine rainforests, marvel at cascading waterfalls or frolic in snow that may blanket some higher parts of the Park in winter.
The tidy town of Gloucester, literally a couple of kilometers down the road, still features a "main street" of shops & has plenty on offer, a couple of great cafes, bakeries, a really great visitor centre plus a Woolworths whose outdoor car park even has a fabulous view of the mountains!
